Worker dies after being run over by Florida street sweeper he was driving

A Florida man was killed after he was run over by the street sweeper he was driving.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the unidentified 57-year-old man was operating a street sweeper in the parking lot of a Brandon Publix supermarket when a crash sent him flying out of the truck into its path as it kept moving forward, running him over and killing him.

FHP says the sweeper operator left the parking lot of the Publix late Friday to make a U-turn to get back into the lot.

The sweeper truck went into the path of another car, which crashed against the side of the street sweeper.

The worker, who authorities say was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and run over by the vehicle.

The agency says the driver of the other car suffered serious injuries.
