Florida Prosecutors Use Interview Against Reeves in Movie Shooting Trial

DADE CITY -- Prosecutors spent much of Wednesday afternoon showing jurors the words of Curtis Reeves, as they sought to convince jurors that he was guilty of second-degree murder for shooting Chad Oulson to death at a Wesley Chapel movie theater in 2014.

The interview, recorded not long after the shooting, shows Reeves claiming he was punched in the face. The detective interviewing him, Allen Proctor, told Reeves he could find no witnesses corroborating his testimony. It was after that that Reeves was arrested.

Earlier, jurors heard from Dr. Jon Thogmartin, Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner.

Reeves shot Oulson, 43, after an argument over using the phone escalated during movie previews. The gunfire also wounded Oulson's widow Nicole.

Testimony is expected to continue Thursday.
