Several Palm Beach County municipalities will be getting some of the $404 million announced by the governor that will be going out across the state to address sea level rise.

But FSU climate professor Jeff Chanton tells CBS 12 News it may be too little, too late.

"It might be good for five, ten, fifteen years but eventually the sea level rise will catch up."

The Town of Hypoluxo is getting $700,000 out of the Resilient Florida program to convert two streets of businesses with septic systems to sewer systems. Experts say septic systems can fail when conditions in the groundwater and soil are worsened by climate change.

Other municipalities have plans to build higher sea walls.

"I think in the long term, nature is going to prevail."

Chanton wants the state to focus on limiting carbon emissions in addition to the projects underway.
