Proposed Legislation Would Require Playing National Anthem

Playing the National Anthem could soon be required at Florida sporting events.

State Senator Joe Gruters is sponsoring a bill that would require professional sports teams to play the National Anthem before any sporting event if the team enters into a contract with the state that requires a financial commitment.

Failure to play the anthem could require the team repay any money paid to it by the state.

Gruters says he's unaware of an instance when the Anthem wasn't played and that the legislation is an effort to be proactive.
