Tenant fires gun after becoming angry at maintenance workers

A man was arrested by the Cocoa Police Department after firing a gun because he was angry over workers doing maintenance work on his apartment.

Brevard County resident Phil Robbins, 66, is facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon over Tuesday's incident.

According to police, the owner of the building notified Robins on Saturday that maintenance needed to be done to his unit.

Robins reportedly told the owner, "sorry us dying old farts don’t get out of bed till noon. Open my door even with a police officer and warrant I’m gonna start shooting."

Three days later, while workers were fixing an air conditioner and painting, a gunshot was heard.

The workers fled the apartment and called 911.

Police made contact with Robins and he was arrested.

A revolver was found on a shelf next to a bed in his apartment.
