Man charged with running illegal post-surgery recovery center

A man's been arrested after police say he ran an illegal post-surgery recovery center out of a southwest Miami-Dade home.

Fidel Clemente, 37, was arrested on two counts of operating an assisted living facility without a license.

Officers with Miami-Dade Police's Medical Crimes Unit began surveillance on a home between Southwest 32nd Street and 147th Court.

During the surveillance operation, officers witnessed a minivan arrive and a woman with bandages on her face and arms get out and go inside.

Officers approached the home and found Clemente, who agreed to let them search the residence.

During their search, officers found multiple beds in each of the home's four bedrooms that could be used to accommodate multiple patients.

Two women who were in the home told police they were post-surgery patients who received assistance with meals, medications, dressing and bathing as they recovered.

Clemente was arrested and charged with operating an assisted living facility without a license.

He was booked into jail and released on bond.
