The Urban Meyer experiment in Jacksonville is over.

The former Florida Gators coach was fired as the Jaguars head coach late Wednesday.

Jacksonville offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will serve as the interim head coach for the final four games of the season. Meyer leaves the NFL with a record of 2-and-11.

The news comes just hours after the Tampa Bay Times reported that Meyer kicked former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo during the preseason.

Earlier this season, video surfaced of the married Meyer dancing with a young woman at an Ohio bar.

Team owner Shad Khan said he was "bitterly disappointed" and that "an immediate change is imperative for everyone".
