Orlando International Airport ready for near record holiday travel

Winter holiday travel won't be for the faint of heart. AAA says travel numbers are expected to be close to the record set in 2019 just before the pandemic hit. Orlando International Airport is already busy. Airport CEO Phil Brown offered this advice.

"Pack your patience and remember this is a holiday season so be of good cheer," Brown said. "Please come early. We've learned from the Thanksgiving holiday that we're going to be challenged with parking."

More than 2-and-a half million people are forecast to fly into and out of OIA in the next couple of weeks- just 3-percent off the pre-pandemic 2019 record. Brown says they're pleased with the recovery they've made.

"If you were talking to me in January of 2021 I don't know that I would have expected this."

The busiest day of the 19 day travel period is expected to be Saturday when almost 157,000 passengers will pass through the airport.
