Central Florida Substitute Teacher Accused of Sex with High School Student

LAKELAND -- A 20-year-old substitute teacher hired through a temporary agency is accused of having sex with a student.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says Ayanna Davis told detectives she had unprotected sex with the student on four occasions, twice at his house and twice at her house. Detectives say that matches what they were told by the victim.

Davis is charged with Sexual Battery by Custodian and Offenses Against Students by an authority figure, as well as a warrant from Lakeland police. She was scheduled through Kelly Education Services, which has been informed that Davis is not allowed on any Polk County public school site.

The case came to light when a Lakeland High student informed a Lakeland Police School Resource officer about a Snapchat video showing Davis and another student having sex, which was allegedly shown to a group of football players.

Polk School Superintendent Frederick Heid says the district expects substitutes to "uphold the same high standards of conduct and professionalism as our full-time educators."
