Wildlife experts say the American crocodile that's taken up residence on the North Palm Beach municipal golf course is not new to the area.

They believe the same croc was spotted by news crews in Jensen Beach to the north back in January.

While Florida is known for its reptile residents, especially alligators, seeing a crocodile is not common. In fact, it almost never happens outside of the Keys and the Everglades. That's predominately where the 2,000 living in Florida stay, because it's warmer.

The American Crocodile is a "threatened species," therefore it cannot be removed and golfers will just have to be aware of their surroundings when near the golf course's lakes until the female crocodile decides to hit the road.
