LOOK: Florida Lands Eight Of Top 10 Spots For Best Retirement Places

After nearly two years of staying close to home during the pandemic, Americans are planning for their futures and looking to the Sunshine State.

Eight of U.S. News & World Report's top ten Best Places to Retire in the country are in Florida.

Senior Editor for Retirement Emily Brandon says, "Sarasota is rated as the Best Place to Retire in the U.S. for the second year in a row due to reasonable cost of living and high marks for desirability." However, it did see scores drop in health care, housing and happiness.

Naples, Daytona Beach and Melbourne also climbed to the second, third and fourth positions with Tampa rising from 20 last year to six this year.

Miami on the other hand plummeted from nine last year to 48 now.

"The Best Place to Retire rankings include data about housing affordability, happiness, desirability, retiree taxes, the job market and access to quality healthcare," says Brandon,

The rankings are based on a survey given to those 45 and older on what they most value in places to spend their golden years.
