The Palm Beach County School Board is expected to vote on a new policy dealing with mental health in schools.

The Student Mental Health Crisis Response Policy will include the addition of phone numbers for suicide hotlines to student ID cards, which is required under a new state law.

The newly proposed policy also features several other elements to it like voting to add more training for students and staff on things like crisis de-escalation, prevention, and intervention.

The School Board meets on Wednesday for the first time since photos of maskless board member Alexandria Ayala made their way on social media. She was among partiers at the Breakers Palm Beach.

Several members of the county commission were also not wearing masks.

Ayala was one of the "yes" votes for the schools mask mandate and the county has a mask mandate for government buildings in effect.

The 5 p.m. meeting is open to the public and Ayala is likely to hear a mouthful from parents who are calling her actions "hypocritical."
