Some parents are upset after photos of a Palm Beach County Commissioner and School Board member partying with no masks on showed up on social media.

Vice Mayor Robert Weinroth posted the pictures to his Facebook page.

School Board member Alexandria Ayala is seen, along with Weinroth and other members of the county commission, shoulder to shoulder with no face coverings at a Business Development Board Gala at the Breakers Palm Beach Resort Saturday night.

"I'm upset that they choice not to wear a mask, when they are imposing masks on other people. Children are forced to wear masks to go into public libraries. We are forced to wear them to go into a government building, to attend a public meeting."

Josie Macahovec calls it all hypocritical and Ashley Labbad, a longtime teacher with the school district, wants to know why the rules to cover up are being enforced for her and her kids, but not for those creating the policies.

"I was told I could resign. I was told that I could be written up noncompliance or I could work virtual. None of those are options for me. And they're not socially distancing and they're sharing drinks and they're sharing food and having buffets."

Labbad is on a leave of absence over the mask mandate, which the state says is against the law. Ayala was one of the school board members who voted to approve the mandate, which does not allow parental opt-outs.

While the state won't allow a countywide mask mandate, face coverings must be worn inside county buildings.

The CDC states that even those who are fully vaccinated should wear masks in crowded public settings.
