A Florida school district is looking into ways to avoid sending kids home to quarantine after potential exposure to COVID-19.

Superintendent Michael Burke of Palm Beach County schools says that in addition to students missing valuable instructional time...

"It's no picnic for our parents either. They have to make arrangements for child care."

He says more than 2,500 kids are being sent home to quarantine each day after coming into contact with a COVID-positive person. The number in past weeks has been as high as 5,000 per day.

Burke says a few school districts around the country are doing a "test to stay" policy, which would have affected students take a COVID rapid test the following five days at school. A negative test would keep them in the classroom.

Burke says the vast majority of kids being sent home are not testing positive.

No decision has been made on the proposed policy switch yet.
