Family of Missing Gabby Petito Asks for Information in Florida and New York

NORTH PORT, FL -- In separate appearances Thursday, the parents of a missing 22-year-old woman who disappeared after a trip out west that started in North Port are asking for clues that could lead to finding their daughter.

First, Gabrielle Petito's father Joseph Petito, appeared at a news conference by North Port police Thursday at noon, saying the only thing that matters is bringing Petito home. "I'm asking for help from everyone at home... I'm asking for help from the parents of Brian . and I'm asking from help from the friends of the Laundrie family as well."

"Whatever you can do to make sure my daughter comes home, I'm asking for that help. Nothing else matters," Mr. Petito said.

Later in the afternoon, an attorney representing Petito's mother read a statement addressing the Laundries. "Please, if you or your family have any decency left, please tell us where Gabby is located. Please tell us if we are looking in the right place." The statement was signed by Petito's mother, father and stepfather.

Schmidt later said that Petito's parents reached out to the Laundrie family September 10th and 11th, prior to filing a missing persons report. He said the family had no comment on the release of bodycam video by police in Moab, Utah, who responded to a domestic altercation between Petito and Laundrie in August. Laundrie returned September 1st in Petito's van, alone.
