Palm Beach County school kids are off for Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, but when they return on Tuesday some will notice mobile COVID vaccination clinics on campus.

The county's Health Care District is rolling those units out to all local public high schools, beginning with Jupiter High School.

The vaccines are not mandatory, but they are free and students and staff are being encouraged to get them.

The mobile units will be set up outside schools during drop-off and pick-up times. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present in order to get the shots.

Two new COVID-19 testing sites are also expected to open Tuesday at two schools, Chuck Shaw Technical Education Center in West Palm Beach and West Tech Education Center in Belle Glade.

School Board Chairman Frank Barbieri says those sites are aimed at getting students tested and out of quarantine as fast as possible.
