Some public officials in Palm Beach County are urging more employers to mandate the COVID vaccine for their workers.
They included Tax Collector Anne Gannon who made headlines back in April when she became the first public official in the state to do just that. She only gave her 315 employees exemptions for medical or religious reasons and 8 of them left, another 20 were given exemptions.
Gannon says the business cost of COVID was just too high and she called it a "business decision."
She also applauded the Palm Beach County School Board for its mask mandate, calling board members "brave," especially with the governor "breathing down your neck."
County Clerk and Comptroller Joe Abruzzo is offering his employees $500 if they get vaccinated, and those who don't have to be tested every week.
Democrat Congresswoman Lois Frankel hosted the press conference in front of the Palm Beach County Courthouse in West Palm Beach on Thursday.
