Hillsborough Commissioners Give Olympus Pool Customers a Break

TAMPA -- Customers of a pool company who didn't get their pools finished will get a break from Hillsborough County as they seek out other contractors to finish their jobs.

The county commission voted unanimously to waive permit transfer fees for about 240 customers of Olympus Pools. The company plans to surrender its pool-spa contractor license as part of a settlement with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, meaning that these customers must use other contractors to complete their pools. The state Construction Industry Licensing Board is due to vote on the surrender September 9.

The move is expected to save each customer just under $40 on average.

Pasco County Commissioners approved a similar waiver about a month ago.
