You may have noticed Gold Star Families Memorial markers popping up all over Palm Beach County. Another one is going up on Saturday, this time in Jupiter.

"This will be the thirteenth marker that we'll be dedicating and we've been approved by Belle Glade and Greenacres."

Gold Star daughter Lauren Berkson says those two will likely happen next year, after the pandemic slowed things down. But her momentum can't be stopped.

"I think it's important for people to recognize that these families have an empty seat at the table because their loved one is no longer there and they died for everyone."

Berkson's father died in Vietnam when she was a baby back in 1972.

Saturday also marks National Purple Heart Day, when Americans honor those who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives.

The dedication of the new marker is happening at the Town of Jupiter's Veterans Memorial along Military Trail, beginning at 9 a.m.

The public is welcome and Berkson hopes to see other Gold Star family members on hand.
