Florida Fish and Wildlife is looking for the person who painted a gopher tortoise pink.
Animal Control officers in Port St. Lucie were able to rescue the tortoise and an authorized facility is in the process of removing the paint.
The FWC says paint is harmful to turtles, causing respiratory problems if the toxic chemicals get into their bloodstream and making them more visible to predators.
Officials say there is a second painted tortoise still being searched for.
Experts say if you find a turtle that's been painted, don't try to remove the paint yourself or even handle the turtle.
