The CDC has released new mask guidance, recommending that all Americans living in high transmission areas should wear face coverings indoors and that includes those who are fully vaccinated.

Florida is one of the state's seeing high transmission, but Governor DeSantis stands opposed to mask mandates, saying they violate personal freedoms.

New state laws practically eliminate the ability for counties and municipalities to institute their own mask mandates when it comes to private businesses.

The CDC also said students in schools should be masked up, but the state has told school districts to make masks optional this upcoming school year.

Palm Beach County Schools plan to make mask-wearing voluntary next month. The school board is holding a meeting Wednesday evening, but masks are not on the agenda.
