Governor DeSantis signs Florida's biggest ever state budget

Florida's largest ever state budget- all $101 billion of it- was signed Wednesday by Governor Ron DeSantis at The Garlic Italian restaurant in New Smyrna Beach. The governor says there's a lot to like in the hefty spending package, "that responsibly supports our men and women in law enforcement, our K-12 education students and teachers, conserves and protects our great environmental and natural resources."

And the governor says the budget that takes effect July 1st does all that- "but does so in a way that has the lowest per-capita tax burden of any state in the country and has what will probably be $10 billion in reserve."

Florida received $10 billion in federal COVID relief funds which helped prevent any cuts in education and health care spending.
