Listen to an interview with Chef Ted Dorsey
TAMPA -- Florida restaurant operators continue relating how hard it is to find good help... or any help at all.
Chef Ted Dorsey, co-owner of The Mill Restaurant in Tampa and St Petersburg, says he's looking to hire for the dining room and the kitchen.
"We're looking (for) servers, bartenders, server assistants... and (shift) managers. In the back of the house we're looking for line cooks, prep cooks, sous chefs, and dishwashers."
Dorsey points to federally enhanced unemployment benefits as a factor in making hiring more difficult.
"Five to six hundred a week in federalist aid and unemployment, that makes them not really want to go out and work very hard for that same amount of money," Dorsey said.
The chef also adds that the pandemic shutdown may have motivated onetime restaurant employees to make a career change.
Dorsey says he's offering bonuses to new hires, paid out at 30, 60 and 90 days of employment.
He's taking applications at his St Petersburg location at this e-mail: themilldtsp@themillrestaurants.com and in Tampa at themillst@themillrestaurants.com
