A suspect is in custody in connection to the sexual assault of an elderly Martin County woman last week.
20-year old Marvin Mendoza was arrested Tuesday night.
The 82-year old victim says a "masked assailant" woke her up inside her home and then sexually battered her while armed with a knife.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder says DNA evidence led them to Mendoza.
"That arrest resulted from excellent forensic science and good old fashioned police work."
He says the victim was tied up.
Mendoza was seen leaving the same neighborhood the night after the attack and Snyder thinks there could be more victims. He wants to hear from them.
The sheriff says Mendoza has a rap sheet.
"The suspect has four previous arrests including lewd behavior on a minor, battery by strangulation and two other charges."
