A group of Republican senators including Florida's Marco Rubio are calling for the federal government's $300 a week supplemental jobless benefit to end in June.
Rubio says many employers are having a tough time finding workers because potential employees are making more money staying home courtesy of Uncle Sam--
"This thing is- right now- in the law- ends in late August- early September- right after Labor Day irrespective of conditions," Rubio says. "This should be conditions-based."
And Rubio says current 'conditions' are showing that the U.S. economy is in good shape.
"Once you get to a point where you have a massive number of job openings and not enough people to meet them- it's a pretty good indicator that on a macro level the economy is in a place where that benefit is no longer needed."
Rubio says every small business he's interacted with across Florida tells him finding workers is a big problem.
