Officer Alexey Aguilar

Director Daniel Junior regrets to announce that Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) Correctional Officer Alexey Aguilar, age 42, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

Alexey Aguilar joined the MDCR family on November 24, 2014, as a Correctional Technician assigned to the Pre-Trial Detention Center. In November 2015, he was promoted to Correctional Officer after graduating from COT 124. As an Officer, he worked at the Mental Health Treatment Center at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Officer Herminio Amil Jr. remembers Officer Aguilar as “More than just an officer. He was a true brother to me, he was always willing to be there for me either day or night. I can never repay him for all of the awesome things he has done for me and all of his coworkers. I hope he knows that I am eternally grateful. Even if you are far away from us, my heart still cherishes you and all the great memories we shared. I love you my brother. I want you to know that I miss you and will never forget you.”

Officer Diego Cabrera offers his insight on working with Officer Aguilar. “He was a good man and an even better father. He came to work proud and offered help to anyone who needed it. In the seven years I knew him, he was always a quality individual and I know he will be missed by all of MDCR.”

Officer Brandon Bailey said Alexey was always, “A great family man. He loved being a father to his three girls and a great husband to his wife. I have had the honor of being his COT-mate and I must say that throughout it all, he was a consistent guy in and out of work. He was a brother to many and will be missed by all."

Alexey Aguilar is survived by his wife, Claudia, and his daughters, Monica, Angelica and Viviana.
