Sen. Rick Scott Asks For Calm Ahead Of Chauvin Verdict

Jurors who will decide whether former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is guilty of killing George Floyd are continuing their deliberations.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott says that no matter what the jury decides, there are no winners.

'You feel sorry for the family and you feel sorry for everybody involved."

He says he hopes that people understand that the jurors are going to do the best job they can and that everybody is accepting of the result.

Tensions are high in Minneapolis and other large cities, bracing for potential violence.

Speaking on iHeartRadio Tuesday, the former governor also shared his thoughts on the new so-called "anti-riot" law, just signed by Gov. DeSantis.

"It's a right we all have to do is peacefully but gosh you can't be violent and so we've got to be aggressive to stop people from being violent."

Scott also says we have to do everything we can to support our law enforcement. HB-1 also punishes cities that may try to defund the police.

On the topic of immigration, the state's junior U.S. senator says nothing has improved on the southern border in the month since he and other Republicans visited.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been put in charge, but Scott says she doesn't want to fix anything.

"She believes in open borders. She believes in decriminalizing illegal border crossings. She wants American taxpayers to pay for health care for illegal immigrants."

The senator equates appointing Harris to fix the border crisis to making an arsonist a firefighter or having New York Governor Andrew Cuomo host a seminar on sexual harassment.
