Florida's Education Commissioner Wants To Make Mask Mandate Voluntary

Masks may not be mandatory in Florida schools this fall. State Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran says masks should be voluntary since data show they don't impact the spread of coronavirus and may impede instruction for student's who can't see their teacher's face and mouth. But United Teachers of Dade President Karla Hernandez-Mats is crying foul-saying the district should continue following the CDC school mask mandate. Miami-Dade and Broward Schools plan to open for 100-percent in-person learning next academic year.
