Palm Beach County's Newest Mass Vaccination Site Opens Its Doors

Palm Beach County has a new mass-COVID vaccination site.

It opened Wednesday morning in the northern portion of the county.

"You know what's exciting about this site is it served as a closed POD (Point Of Distribution) several weeks ago, so we know that it's a great facility."

District 1 County Commissioner Maria Marino says about 500 people are expected to be vaccinated at the Palm Beach Gardens site each day Wednesday and Thursday, with the goal to reach 1,000 shots by Friday.

Marino says the Burns Road Community Center in Palm Beach Gardens has room to grow too.

"We have converted a gymnasium into the area where the vaccines and registration is. We also have another room set aside if in fact we have more vaccines, we do have room for overflow."

The site is operated by appointment only and it's run by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County.
