A man caught on video punching a dog has permanently relinquished custody of the animal.
A Boynton Beach Police investigator visited his home after the video made its way to social media, showing the man abusing the 2-year old Pit-Lab mix named Addison on Sunday at Intracoastal Park.
Police say he expressed extreme remorse and said he understands the gravity of his actions.
Two other dogs in the home appeared to have been well taken care of and the investigator found no probable cause to remove the 11 and 13 year old pets.
Addison remains in the custody of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control and will be put up for adoption.
The criminal investigation is ongoing.
