TAMPA -- Two Tampa Bay area counties are making changes to their high school graduation plans after the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
The Hillsborough school district is giving up on in-person ceremonies after weeks of working on logistics to make them work with social distancing. Hillsborough will now produce virtual graduation videos. The district will allow students to "drive by" and pick up diplomas, and take a picture with the principal.
Meantime, the Pasco school district is moving graduation ceremonies outdoors, after being told the Yuengling Center at USF can't accommodate graduations. In-person graduation ceremonies have been scheduled from July 17 through July 31, mostly at the schools' stadiums. Each graduate is allowed to bring two guests, and there will be social distancing.
