The violence that's erupted in the wake of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis made its way to West Palm Beach Sunday night.
Rioters damaged storefronts at the Palm Beach Outlets as shots were fired. West Palm Beach Police wound up blocking the entrance to the mall from Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, and helped employees try to safely leave the stores. According to reports, rocks were thrown at cops.
Across the street, windows on the Target store were smashed and just up the road, a Geek Squad van was set on fire in the parking lot of the Best Buy, just east of I-95, where protesters had marched earlier.
There have also been reports of a couple of local Walmart stores being looted.
Earlier protests on Clematis Street in Downtown West Palm Beach became chaotic, but there was no damage reported.
As for the I-95 protest...it had traffic shut down in both directions between Southern Boulevard and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard after protesters who had marched in Downtown West Palm Beach walked onto the highway from Okeechobee Boulevard.
No word of any violence there and FHP says the lanes were reopened just after 8 p.m.
