While the Palm Beach Outlets are set to temporarily close due to an order from the county, a blood drive scheduled to get underway there will go on as planned.
The emergency order shuts down all "non-critical" businesses in Palm Beach County which includes clothing and jewelry stores, a good chunk of what you'll find at the Outlets in West Palm Beach.
But there is also a Whole Foods Market, which falls under the "critical" grocery store label and thus is allowed to remain in operation during the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. There are also several restaurants, many of which are likely to keep operating as take-out and delivery services, as allowed by the state and the county.
OneBlood says the blood drive Begins Friday, and will continue every Friday through Monday until April 20th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Organizers say they are taking precautions to help practice social distancing, limiting the number of people on the donation bus to 4 at one time and making sure everyone is separated by at least six feet.
Team members will be wearing gloves and all areas and equipment touched by blood donors will be wiped down with disinfecting wipes.
OneBlood and other blood banks around the nation have reported a shortage in the amount of people donating since the coronavirus crisis began, as blood drives were cancelled. They have put out the call that donating blood is safe.
