Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shooting, killing 5 and injuring 6 others. The mass shooting near the baggage claim in Terminal 2 leading to security upgrades, increased training and more Broward deputies assigned to airport duties. The airport now has access to an Integrated Public Alert Warning system to lessen confusion during an emergency because the people calling 9-1-1 that day had no idea what was going on. Shooter Esteban Santigao is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to the killings to avoid the death penalty.
