Boca Raton Chief To Become Director Of School Police

The police chief in Boca Raton will soon leave to join the Palm Beach County School District.

The school board Wednesday night approved the hiring of Dan Alexander as Director of School Police, a newly created position that comes as the school district's police department adds officers to meet the requirements of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act.

Alexander will report to School District Police Chief Frank Kitzerow. His responsibilities will include developing and implementing the district's security plan and coordinating with other local governments.

Alexander's annual salary will be between $100,000 and $150,000.

No starting date has been announced.
