State Seeks Death Penalty Against Former High School Assistant Principal

The state now seeking the death penalty against a former high school assistant principal accused of killing a Miami Gardens mom. When Ernest Roberts was arrested he was initially charged with 2nd-degree murder in the killing of Kameela Russel whose body was found in a Miami Gardens canal after she went missing in May. Roberts attorney says the grand jury upgraded the charges to pre-meditated 1st-degree murder and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. No word yet on a motive-Roberts once worked with Russel at Miami Norland Senior High. The medical examiner's office says she died of blunt force to the head. The case is set to go to trial in October.
