Department Of Justice Warns Mueller About Testimony

The Justice Department is warning former Special Counsel Robert Mueller about his testimony in the House this week.

A letter to Mueller from the DOJ says that he should avoid talking about privileged matters such as investigative steps or decision making.

It also says he shouldn't testify about redacted portions of the report.

Meanwhile,Mueller's spokesman says he doesn't plan to stray from his conclusions in the written report.

That report examined Russia's effort to meddle in the 2016 election. It also detailed possible obstruction of justice by President Trump, but didn't make any decision about prosecution.

Mueller is reportedly seeking to bring some backup when he testifies in two House hearings tomorrow.

CNN says Mueller has asked to have his deputy Aaron Zebley sworn-in for the hearings to help him answer questions, if necessary.

The request is being considered by Democrats who run the Judiciary and Intelligence Committees.

Republicans are said to be viewing the request with some suspicion.

In the mean time, President Trump is repeating his claim that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller found "no collusion!" ahead of Mueller's testimony tomorrow on Capitol Hill.

Speaking at a teen summit in DC today, Trump said the nearly two-year Russia investigation cost 40-million-dollars.

Mueller will testify in back-to-back hearings of the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees.
