NHC Increases Chances Of Tropical Development In Gulf

Chances are increasing that a low pressure system over Central Georgia will develop into a tropical system when it moves off Florida's coast and into the Gulf of Mexico.

National Hurricane Center forecasters are now saying there's an 80% chance of formation over five days.

The good news is that it doesn't appear to be a direct threat to South Florida.

Computer models show the storm will likely move west away from Tampa Bay, but it will bring increased chances for heavy rain and strong wind gusts between Wednesday and Friday, and tides may rise two-to-three feet higher than normal.
