MS-13 Gang Member Killed After Shooting Undercover Deputy In Drug Sting

A gang known for its large number of illegal immigrants as members is trying to get a stronghold on Palm Beach County.

That's according to Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, who late Thursday night announced the deadly shooting of an MS-13 gang member by an undercover deputy.

"It's not the biggest, but it's not the smallest either. It's something we've been working on and this is one of the pieces of the puzzle that we've been working on to get into this gang and find out what they've been doing."

He says the deputy is expected to recover after undergoing surgery for a gunshot to the face. The deputy had a bullet lodged in his cheek after being shot during a sting operation disguised as a drug deal.

The gang member was wanted on several charges involving heroin and other drugs.

Narcotic agents met up with him near the Turnberry Apartments in Palm Beach Gardens, where the suspect lived.

Deputies shot and killed the suspect.

The sheriff didn't say whether he was in the country legally or illegally.

Bradshaw made the announcement just hours after news came out that the U.S. Border Patrol plans to send 1,000 illegal migrants caught crossing the border in Texas to South Florida.
