Dentist Records Himself Riding Hoverboard While Extracting Patient's Tooth

A dentist from Alaska, who is on trial for dozens of counts of Medicaid fraud, is also facing charges for committing an "unlawful dental act" for allegedly performing a tooth extraction while riding on a hoverboard.

In July 2016, Seth Lookhart, 34, filmed the procedure without the patient's knowledge. After he completed the surgery, he rode out of the room and put his hands in the air to celebrate his accomplishment. After the incident, he sent the video to his friends and family, bragging about the "new standard of care."

The patient, Veronica Wilhelm, testified during his trial and said that she was under general anesthesia and would not have allowed Lookhart to film her or remove her tooth while riding a hoverboard.

"I don't have anything bad to say about taking out my tooth, I appreciate that, but I just think that what you did was outrageous, narcissistic you know, and crazy. I forgive you for all of that, but there's obviously a high-priced lesson that you're going to have to learn," Wilhelm told the jury.

The Alaska Dental Board launched an investigation after they learned of the video and suspended Lookhart's license.

Lookhart is also facing over 40 counts relating to Medicaid fraud. Prosecutors accused him of fraudulently billing at least $1.8 million to Medicaid and stealing over $250,000 from business partners.
