The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) beat the San Francisco 49ers (4-2) 30-19 on Sunday afternoon at Raymond James Stadium to continue their impressive start to the 2025 season.
Leading 20-16 at halftime, the 49ers hit a field goal midway through the third quarter to pull within 20-19. Late in the third quarter Baker Mayfield's heroics came through - first converting a 3rd-and-14 with an incredible run play for first down. Moments later he hit wide receiver Tez Johnson for a 45-yard touchdown to give the Buccaneers a 27-19 lead and take control of the game. Chase McLaughlin hit a field goal with less then two minutes to go in the fourth to make it 30-19, which would prove to be the final score.
Baker Mayfield went 17-for-23 with 256 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Buccaneers - Kameron Johnson led the way with four catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. Rachaad White led the run game for the Bucs, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
The Buccaneers are next in action when they travel to Detroit to play the Lions next Monday night. Kickoff in Detroit is scheduled for October 20th at 7:00 PM - you can hear the game on 97.9 WXTB-FM - The Mighty 98 Rock.
