The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) defeated the Atlanta Falcons (0-1) 23-20 to win the season opener in Atlanta.
The game went back and forth in the first half and was tied 10-10 at halftime. After the Buccaneers built a 17-10 lead, Atlanta rallied to take a 20-17 lead late in the fourth quarter. The Buccaneers were able to rally when Baker Mayfield hit Emeka Egbuka for a 25-yard touchdown with 0:59 to go. They clinched the win when Younghoe Koo missed a 44-yard field goal with two seconds to go.
Baker Mayfield led the way going 17-for-32 with 167 yards passing and three touchdowns. Two of them were to wide receiver Emeka Egbuka - his first NFL game was memorable, grabbing four catches for 67 yards and two touchdown.
The Buccaneers are next in action on Monday Night Football when they go to Houston to take on the Texans next week. Kickoff between the Buccaneers and Texans is scheduled for 7:00 PM on September 15th - you can hear the game on 97.9 WXTB-FM - The Mighty 98 Rock.
