The New Jersey Devils (1-1-0) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (0-2-0) 5-3 on Saturday night at Benchmark Arena. With the loss, the Lightning have dropped their first two games - both at home - to start the regular season. It was the first time the Lightning have started the regular season 0-2 since 2008.
Connor Brown scored twice for the Devils to set the pace. The Lightning got goals from Yanni Gourde and Ryan McDonagh and Darren Raddysh in the losing effort.
The Lightning now go on the road for their next four games, beginning when they travel to Boston to play the Bruins on Monday. Puck drop between the Lightning and Bruins is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday afternoon.
