The Florida Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 on Thursday night. With the win, the Panthers won both of the first two games in Tampa to take a 2-0 series lead in the Best-of-Seven first round playoff series.
Nate Schmidt scored for the Panthers early in the first, and that would be the only offense that Florida would need. Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky kept the Lightning out of the net all night, earning the shutout win. Florida got an empty-net goal late from Sam Bennett to clinch the 2-0 win.
With the Panthers appearing to take control of the series, it now shifts to Sunrise for Game 3 and 4. Puck drop in game three is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon in Sunrise between the Lightning and Panthers.
