The Tampa Bay Lightning (28-20-4) defeated the Ottawa Senators (29-21-4) 4-3 on Tuesday night at Amalie Arena. For Ottawa, the loss snaps a five-game winning streak.
The Lightning got goals from Luke Glendening and Nikita Kucherov in the second period and were tied 2-2 in the third period. Brandon Hagel broke the tie in the third, before Ryan McDonagh hit the empty-netter with 1:35 to go in the game that would prove to be the game winner.
The Lightning and Senators will meet again in the second game of a back-to-back on Thursday night at Amalie Arena - puck drop in that game is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
