Lightning Fall To Red Wings In Shootout

The Detroit Red Wings (18-26-9) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (34-14-3) 1-0 in the shootout.

The goalies were the story in this night as each pitched a shutout through regulation and overtime. Curtis McElhinney took the loss in spite of saving all fifteen shots he saw. Thomas Greiss saw 33 shots in net for Detroit and came away with saves in all of them.

The shootout needed eight rounds to decide a winner - tied 3-3 in the eighth round, Yanni Gourde missed a shot on net. Sam Gagner hit his eighth round shot and it lifted the Red Wings to the second point and the win on Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning and Red Wings will have a rematch on Sunday afternoon - puck drop is scheduled for 3 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 2:30 on News Radio WFLA.
