Hedman Scores 10 Seconds Into OT As Lightning Defeat Blue Jackets 4-3

@jayRecher

The Big Swede did it again.

Victor Hedman scored just 10 seconds into overtime as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 on Sunday night at Amalie Arena.

Ondrej Palat, Mathieu Joseph and Alex Barre-Boulet also scored for the Lightning.

That was Barre-Boulet's first NHL goal.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 19 saves for the win.

After a goal on Thursday night against the Blue Jackets, Palat got the scoring started Sunday evening as well.

Ondrej took a slick pass from Brayden Point and deftly roofed it over the shoulder of Columbus netminder Joonas Korpisalo to make it 1-0 Lightning at the 11:52 mark of the opening period.

Instead of that goal giving the Bolts a push to score more, it had the opposite effect and the Jackets answered back in a big way.

Mikahil Grigorenko and Eric Robinson scored 2:13 apart -- the Robinson goal coming with just 31 seconds left in the period -- to give Columbus a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Lightning answered back at the 6:09 mark of the 2nd period with a perfect example of how speed kills.

Palat sprung Point down the right wing with a long pass and Brayden sped down the ice in a 2-on-1 with another speedster, Joseph. Point waited until the last possible second before sliding the puck across, and Joseph tipped it into the open net to tie the game at two.

Robinson scored his second goal of the night just 55 seconds into the 3rd period when he found a loose puck to the right of Vasilevskiy and ripped a shot over his glove to give Columbus a 3-2 lead.

It was a good start to the period for the Blue Jackets, but this time it was the Lightning's turn to respond.

Barre-Boulet's goal, after a beautiful cross-ice feed from Palat, came at the 2:41 mark and really gave the building some life.

Unfortunately for Columbus, Korpisalo looked to be injured going post-to-post looking to make the save and had to be replace in net by Elvis Merzlikins.

Korpisalo stopped 23 of 26 shots. Merzlikins stopped 7 of 8.
