Lightning Complete California Sweep With Win Over San Jose

The Tampa Bay Lightning (32-15-5) knocked off the San Jose Sharks (22-27-4) 3-0 on Saturday night in San Jose.

After a scoreless though hard-fought first period, Steven Stamkos got the scoring started at the 4:04 mark of the second period. That would be the only score of the game heading into the third period - though San Jose threatened, they were never able to break through. Finally, Nikita Kucherov broke through for Tampa Bay with 2:03 to go in the game to take a commanding 2-0 lead. Ondrej Palat added an empty net goal and the Bolts were able to hang on to sweep all three California teams on the West Coast since Wednesday.

Curtis McElhinney got the win in net - his first shutout as a member of the Lightning - converting all 30 saves he made. Aaron Dell took the loss for San Jose converting 32-of-34 saves in net for the Sharks.

The Lightning return home wrapping up a four game road trip since the All-Star break and will be back at Amalie Arena on Tuesday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Las Vegas Golden Knights is scheduled for 7 PM on Tuesday night - pregame coverage begins at 6 PM on News Radio WFLA.
