Lightning Get Impressive 7-3 Win Over Maple Leafs

The Tampa Bay Lightning (2-1-1) got an impressive 7-3 win over the Maple Leafs (2-2-1) on Thursday night in Toronto.

Brayden Point, who missed the first three games of the season after having offseason hip surgery, showed up ready to play on Thursday night. He wasted no time getting on the board, scoring just 2:28 into the game. From there the first period exploded with offense - Toronto followed with goals from Andreas Johansson and John Tavaras, before Nikita Kucherov answered to tie the game 2-2. After Kevin Shattenkirk scored to make it 3-2, Auston Matthews scored to tie the game once again 3-3.

From there the Bolts began to take over, and it began when Brayden Point added his second point as he helped set up Steven Stamkos late in the first period for a goal that made it 4-3. Point added a second goal in the second period to make it 5-3, then the Lightning put it away in the third period with goals from Ondrej Palat and Nikita Kucherov to secure the 7-3 win.

Andrei Vasilevskiy went 25-for-28 in net for the Bolts to secure the win, while Frederick Anderson was pulled after allowing seven goals. Michael Hutchinson went 5-for-5 in net in relief for Toronto.

The Lightning now travel to Ottawa to battle the Senators on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 PM and pregame coverage begins at 3:30 on News Radio WFLA.
