A 10-year-old girl is recovering after being attacked by a shark at Hobe Sound Beach in Jupiter, Florida.
Jasemine Carney of Palm City told NBC affiliate WPTV, "I fought a shark and won."
"Something grabbed me," she said. "It looked pretty big and it was gray. It hurt, so I'm like, kick it (and) run away."
Her grandmother says she saw the blood all over the girl's foot and ran to get a lifeguard.
Carney was air-lifted to Palm Beach Children's Hospital at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach where she was treated for a serious injury to her right foot.
Dr. Nir Hus who performed surgery says he was surprised by how calm she was throughout the ordeal.
"She was very positive from the get-go," he said.
She lost a small part of her foot, but she is expected to make a full recovery in about one to two months.
